Solukhumbu District - Nepal (23-31 October 2016)
Local workshop: Phortse
After the impossiblity of implementing the Local Workshop in Lachen (Sikkim), the project moved to the traditional village of Phortse in the Sagarmatha National Park for conducting a local workshop at very grass-root level as well as some additional activities in other relevant pastoral locations in the Khumbu region. The places visited were Thame, Khumjung and Phortse, and the local workshop was finally held in Phortse on 31 October 2016 with the participation of 10 yak keepers (6 men and 4 women).
The community dialogue held in Phortse was really illustrative to know on the field the life of yak keepers in Nepal, and specially adequate as an initial approach to the reality of yak-herding communities in the Himalaya region.
