The mountain regions of Turkey and Iran keep remainings of very old people and traditions. In the Taurus and Pontic mountains as well as the Armenian highlands live trashumant herders, like that of Yörük, Kurdish, and Laz communities. In Iran, the lesser Caucasus, Zagros and Elburz mountain ranges are homeland for the Shashevan, Lur, and Bajtiyari nomads.
We are interested in the mobile indigenous peoples living in the mountains of Turkey and Iran:
1. TURKEY: Yörük, Kurdish
2. IRAN: Shashevan, Lur, Bajtiyari, Qashqai
