Community Dialogues in High Asia (part II)
The first phase of the World Yak Herders Association project, consisting of a series of community dialogues in High Asia, remained incomplete due to different reasons. The yak-herding communities of China, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bhutan couldn´t be included in this decisive phase of consultation and networking.
Consequently, YURTA Association has designed a second part of these Community Dialogues to be carried out in that countries to be implemented between 2020 and 2022.
As in the previous countries included in the first part of these Community Dialogues (Nepal, India, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan), YURTA has indentified one or various emblematic locations to know the situation of these yak keepers in those 5 countries:
  1. In Afghanistan: Wakhan corridor
  2. In Russia: Altai and Tuva republics
  3. In China: Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan
  4. In Pakistan: Hunza
  5. In Bhutan: Gasa
Documentary "From the Roof of the World"
Between 2014 to 2018, YURTA Association has gathered visual records in high-definition and ultra high-definition 4k from different location in Asia which will compose parts of this documentary. Shooting took place in the following areas:

  • Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh (India)
  • Alai, Naryn (Kyrgyzstan)
  • GBAO (Tajikistan)
  • Arkhangai, Khovd, Khövsgül (Mongolia)
Next destinations to complete the series of locations in this documentary will bring us to:
  1. Myanmar (Myeik islands)
  2. China (Yunnan, Xinjiang, TAR)
  3. India (Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh)
  4. Afghanistan (Wakhan)
